Be healthy pack

The Department of Health’s 5 A DAY programme aims to increase awareness of the health benefits of eating at least 5 portions of a variety of fruit and vegetables each day. Fruit and vegetables are rich in vitamins, minerals and fibre and research shows that eating more fruit and vegetables may help prevent chronic diseases, such as heart disease and some cancers, and can also help to maintain a healthy weight.

Each activity lesson plan is easy to follow and includes:

  • a structured lesson plan
  • background information
  • learning objectives and outcomes
  • extension and homework suggestions
  • an ICT link
  • a pupil activity sheet
