The Road Safety Unit is a team of professionals who are dedicated to reducing road traffic collisions.  Through Road Safety education, training and publicity we are helping to reduce the number of collisions throughout the borough.

Education

Education for pre-school children - for details on free road safety resources including, Stop-Look-Listen-Think stickers and posters, colouring sheets, teacher packs and in-car safety information.

Education for primary schools - for details of the input available for school Years 1 to Year 6.

Education for secondary schools - for details of the input available for school Years 7 to Year 11.

Youth groups - for details of resources available for all youth groups or to arrange evening visits to instruct and train groups such as Brownies, Guides, Cubs and Scouts.

Training

Smart Drive – details of the Bury Metro driver training course aimed at both company vehicle drivers as well as individuals.

Minibus Driver Awareness Scheme – details of the minibus driver training course.

Publicity

Publicity campaigns – details of ongoing road safety campaigns and advice including drink-drive campaigns, seatbelts and child restraints, speed and driver fatigue.

We can supply free leaflets and posters for those who live or work in Bury. If you work in any public place that can display posters or leaflets for us you can also add your details to our distribution list for our road safety campaigns.
